Biography of Bruno Juliano, artist and researcher

Bruno Juliano (Tucumán, 1985) is an artist and researcher.

He graduated in Visual Arts and holds a PhD in Humanities, specialising in Art History, from the National University of Tucumán (UNT), where he teaches Contemporary Art History and directs research projects. His work brings together artistic practice, research, curating, publishing and cultural management around the memory of images and contemporary art.

He is a co-founder of Espacio Cripta, a contemporary art project located inside a crypt that remained flooded for decades. He participated in the Artists’ Programme at Universidad Torcuato Di Tella and in the Casa Alberto Heredia residency at the Museo de Arte Moderno de Buenos Aires. He has received grants from CIMAM–Arthaus, the Alec Oxenford Collection and the Fondo Nacional de las Artes. In 2017 he received the First Acquisition Prize at the 71st Castagnino+Macro Salon.

His publications include The Cold Fury (Ediciones COO), Small Limit (A3 Ediciones) and Atlas Artes Visuales Tucumán. Memory of Image-Stones (FE Ediciones). In the latter, he revisits Warburgian Kulturwissenschaft to propose alternatives to classical art historiography. He has also published articles and essays in specialised journals and media in Argentina and Brazil, and has taught postgraduate courses at several universities.
